    L&I Calculator

Our Group Retro program is merit-based and refunds a portion of workers’ comp premiums to members who have a better-than-average loss history. Use our L&I Calculator to the right to explore what your possible refund would be if you were part of our Group Retro program. If you do not know your “standard” premium or claims, complete the Authorization Form and we can obtain them for you. For a personalized calculation of your likely refund, contact Arthur M. Dalessandro at (206) 329-1120 or email him at adalessandro@wa-emp.com. The L&I calculator is for demonstration purposes only and is not an indicator of future refunds.

…By the way, our parent company is really impressed with the success of the Washington Employers Retro Group and premium refunds.  The net costs after refunds, has caused our parent company to lower "per employee costs" below some of their other companies for workers compensation insurance premiums (and all of them are self-insured).

Group or Individual Retrospective Rating Programs

In 1981, the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries began offering retrospective rating, a premium rebate plan for employers that succeed in keeping their workers’ compensation claims costs lower than the premiums they pay to the Department of Labor & Industries.  To assist their members with managing Group Retro programs, Washington Employers administers a premium fund plan of $26 million. This substantial premium base provides a favorable spread of risk and increases the potential for refunds.  More than 400 of our members participate in the plan.

Our Group Retro members also have 24/7 access to the Risk Management Center,  a web-based safety and risk management tool that helps employers to reduce risk, lower costs, and increase safety. Easy to access and easy to use, the RMC gives you everything you need to create, implement and monitor a highly successful, proactive insurance risk management and OSHA compliance program.

Already participating in a Group Retrospective program?  We’d be happy to compare it against our program to see if we can earn you a greater refund!

Since 1985, the State has refunded more than $100 million to our members – an average of 30% of premiums paid to the Department of Labor & Industries.
