Communicating from Strength...
...and Maintaining Your Sensitivity to Others...

This program is designed for all employees.

The most effective people combine strength with sensitivity. They communicate assertively. Assertiveness may be the most misunderstood style of communication. It is also the most effective. People who communicate assertively have learned to ask for what they want while respecting both the rights of others and their own rights. Coming on strong-or aggressively-gets short-term cooperation, but long-term resistance. Being too nice-or passive-is not only ineffective, but actually diminishes the respect you get from others.

In this course you will discover what it takes to communicate from strength. You will be able to move closer to getting what you want while maintaining the respect and cooperation of family and friends, customers and co-workers.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Define the four communicating styles - Passive, Aggressive, Passive-Aggressive and Assertive
  • Explore what stops us from being assertive
  • Use a formula to plan your assertive communication
  • Practice four assertive communication techniques

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify their current communication style
  • Adapt their style to positively influence the response they get from others
  • Communicate more clearly and directly
  • Employ five techniques to get better results
  • Project an image of confidence and competence
