Driving Employee Engagement

This course is designed for supervisors and managers.

Employee Satisfaction and Employee Engagement affect your company's bottom line and impact your customers/clients. Unfortunately, recent results of a national comparative survey of U.S. companies between 2007 and 2009 indicate that 66 percent of the firms in the study saw decreases in their employee's satisfaction and engagement.

This course focuses on the importance of employee engagement in contributing to the performance of the organization. The drivers of employee engagement and organizational strategies for increasing employee engagement will be the foci for lively group discussions.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Research concerning the organizational outcomes of increased and decreased employee engagement
  • The drivers of Employee Engagement
  • The impacts of high/low Employee Engagement
  • The change cycle as it relates to Employee Engagement
  • Recommended strategies for increasing employee engagement in organizations by:
    • Measuring employee engagement
    • Structuring engaging jobs
    • Developing employees
    • Promoting the use of a "Facilitative" leadership style throughout the organization
    • Increasing opportunities for open communications
    • Being a values-driven organization

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the organizational outcomes of employee engagement
  • Describe the antecedent conditions necessary for an engaged workforce to occur
  • Describe the drivers of Employee Satisfaction and the drivers of Employee Engagement, including how these drivers are related and how they are different
  • Assess the potential ways low levels of employee satisfaction and engagement can impact their organization's overall performance
  • Explain how changes in organizations (such as reductions-in-force and organizational restructuring) can impact employees' satisfaction and engagement
  • Implement a strategic process for increasing employee engagement in their organizations
