Understanding the Employer's Right and Responsibilities
This program is designed for supervisors, safety and human resource professionals.
Workers' Compensation Claims are handled very different in Washington as compared to all other states. Employers have very specific rights and responsibilities regarding communication with injured employees, medical providers, and Labor & Industries. Understanding and exercising these rights can place you in a position of control over your workers' compensation costs.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Injury reporting requirements of the employee, employer, and
medical providers
- Conducting effective incident investigations
- Communicating with medical providers
- Creating Job Descriptions for your Early Return to Work Program
- Communicating and partnering with L&I claims managers
- Online access to L&I claim information and medical records
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Increase the probability of employees reporting injuries
- Understand the purpose and value of an objective incident investigation
- Understand what "fraud" is, what it's not, and what you can do about it
- Create an effective job description for review and approval by a
medical provider
- Negotiate an early return to work date with a medical provider
- Establish a productive relationship with the L&I claims manager
