Managing the Generation Y Employee

This course is designed for supervisors and managers.

The number of young qualified employees entering the workforce is constantly increasing. As those in Generation Y continue to join the workforce, what impact will this have on workplace culture? Do we need to change the way we manage employees or will the tried and true methods still apply?

In this course, participants will be asked to examine their current management style and determine what (if any) changes should be made. Participants will explore their personal approach to work and contrast that approach with those of the newest employees. Suggestions for improving supervision will be provided as well as ample opportunity to discuss real-life challenges.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Multi-tasking
  • Technology
  • Networking and working on teams
  • Use of office space
  • Mentoring
  • Future planning
  • Work-life balance

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify three workplace characteristics of younger workers
  • List three strategies to keep younger employees engaged
  • Describe three development techniques for younger workers
