Human Resource Fundamentals

This course is designed for human resource professionals.

This three-part program is designed for individuals who are new to human resources or whose primary expertise is in another field, most often payroll or accounting, but who have some human resource responsibility.

This program will focus on what needs to be done, with just enough theory to put things in perspective. Procedures and forms will be provided to ease the burdens of implementation and administration.

Course topics will be covered from both a "minimalist" and a "best practices" point of view to enable attendees to evaluate their employers' current practices.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Recruiting and hiring
  • Employee communication
  • Wage and salary administration
  • Policies and handbooks
  • Personnel files
  • Discrimination, harassment and retaliation
  • Ending the employment relationship

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Audit your current Human Resources business practices and determine your needs
  • Identify strategies for responding to HR challenges
  • Access various resources for in-depth information and tools to resolve your HR concerns
