Managing Your Time

This course is designed for all employees.

Time is one of any employee's most precious possessions, and it is the possession most in demand by others-the boss, customers, subordinates, peers, family and friends.

The management of time is an essential skill - and a skill that can be developed. It is a way to extend yourself, to stretch your abilities and to make your more valuable to yourself and to your organization.

This course will provide participants with techniques to improve their current time management skills, and to introduce some new time management techniques for consideration.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • A four-step process for managing your time
  • Creating instant action plans to assist you in reaching your goals
  • Setting priorities and scheduling
  • Handling interruptions such as drop-in visitors, email and telephone calls
  • Managing other obstacles such as meetings, paperwork, procrastination and disorganization

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe a four step process for managing time
  • Use mind mapping to create a plan for tackling a long-term project that is being neglected due to lack of time, procrastination, etc.
  • Apply a three part "To Do" method to personal task lists
  • Define the ABC's of setting priorities
  • Identify appropriate techniques to handling obstacles to time management
