Training the Trainer

This course is designed for leads, supervisors and managers.

Bringing new staff on board or upgrading the skills of existing staff is a welcome step toward increased productivity and efficiency for the managers, supervisors and leads who train new or newly promoted employees. Often those managers, supervisors and leads who are most knowledgeable are also some of the busiest people in the workplace. To compound matters, a new trainee seldom is presented at the most opportune time, which means the highly important tasks of training and orientation may need to occur in a compressed time frame.

This seminar provides the internal trainers in your organization with a variety of time-saving tools, templates and techniques to fit any training situation, from running a press, to trouble-shooting a network problem, to processing invoices, to making decisions. Participants also will come away with a deeper awareness of their responsibility for conveying a sense of the organizational culture and the impact of the messages they communicate as they train members of their departments and organizations.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Preparing to train
  • Identifying training needs
  • Understanding different learning styles
  • Setting standards for performance
  • Developing written procedures
  • Training Process
  • Instilling organization culture

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify indicators that training is needed
  • Select the best form of training for a given situation
  • Accommodate individual learning styles
  • Break a work process down into simple steps and create a written procedure
  • Develop quality and quantity standards
