Certified by Washington Industrial Safety & Health Act and Washington State Department of Labor & Industries
This course is designed for all employees.
Renewal of first aid/CPR certification is required by the State of Washington to validate the Medic® First Aid Certificates and assure compliance with Washington Administrative Code 296-800-15005, which provides that employers must make sure that first-aid trained personnel are available to provide quick and effective first aid.
If your employees' Medic® First Aid Certificates are about to expire, enroll them in this recertification program to validate their certificates for the following two years.
Topics that will be covered include:
- How to recognize an emergency
- Identifying potential hazards and keeping yourself safe
- Medical emergencies and their treatment
- Trauma, mechanism of injury and treatment
- Emotional aspects of providing first aid care
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify changes in CPR that have occurred within the last two years
- Identify two methods to assure emergency scene safety for a rescuer
- Demonstrate two methods of positioning the victim to provide a clear breathing passage
- Identify and demonstrate two methods to control external bleeding
- Describe the signs of cardiac arrest and demonstrate CPR on a mannequin
- Explain the danger of moving a spinal injury victim and demonstrate spinal stabilization
- Identify three basic actions to take when assisting victims of a medical emergency
