The Employee Handbook -- A Valuable Communication Link

An Employee Handbook is the best way to gather and explain company philosophy, policies, and practices. A positive, well-written handbook can help boost a company's image as well as provide an effective method for the consistent treatment of all employees.

Washington Employers Association can simplify the process of implementing an effective handbook in two ways:

I. Handbook Review

If your handbook has not been reviewed for compliance with current state and federal laws or generally accepted practices within the last two years, the Association can bring your handbook up-to-date free of charge. Our employee handbook review includes:

  • A legal compliance review covering required policies, errors and omissions, existing state and federal laws, and proper disclaimers.
  • An assessment of positive, concise, complete, and easy to understand language.
  • New ideas and suggestions of possible additions, deletions or changes to existing policies.
  • An evaluation of current policies compared to industry standards.
  • A returned copy of your handbook complete with written comments, modifications, and recommendations.

II. Handbook Development

If your company does not have the time, expertise, or interest in developing a first-time or updated handbook, our staff can write one for you. The development of a complete handbook is available for $950. A turnkey handbook project includes:

  • An on-site meeting with company representatives to learn more about your organization's philosophies, policies and practices, and to discuss which topics are important for inclusion.
  • The creation of new policies or modification of current policies.
  • Language, which contains appropriate disclaimers to prevent costly legal problems as well as a positive message.
  • A second on-site meeting to discuss draft revisions.
  • A final, complete handbook text in Word format.

Take advantage of the in-depth knowledge and experience of Washington Employers Association's human resource staff members.
